,r I Don and Lori Swetala—
' ` l
ens long-time Richfield
boarding and mare
ULI' residents working in the
corporate world—dreamed
00, ' : of starting their own
' unique business: a doggie
day care. While attending
f the local Penn Fest they
first noticed a building
for lease at 6315 Penn Avenue. Perfect. They seized the
opportunity and took the leap into entrepreneurship.
The Swetalas were knowledgeable in many aspects of
their proposed business, but they knew other requirements
would make the road to small business ownership bumpy.
When they met Rob Smolund, the advisor behind Richfield's
Open to Business program, they were thrilled. His invaluable
services to Richfield business owners and entrepreneurs
were free.
Rob jumped to help advise the entrepreneurs behind
V1___
To BUSINESS
Woof Central. His only goal was to see businesses succeed.
He provided objective advice on all aspects of setting up a
small business, from creating a business plan to potentially
providing loan capital for the business.
Rob and the Open to Business program helped the Swetalas
get their business going and further assisted when Don and
Lori decided to purchase the building. Rob was instrumental
in connecting another pet -related (raw pet food) business
to Woof Central. Now both businesses network and refer
potential clients to one another.
Woof Central has been in business for three years. It has
grown from 3 to 21 employees, many of them Richfield
residents. The clients, too—both human and canine—are
from Richfield and the surrounding area.
Don and Lori enjoy the success of their rapidly growing
business. Rob was happy to play a role in that success
through the Open to Business program.
Checkout Woof Central at www.WoofCentra[Dogs.com
Learn more about Richfield`s Open to Business program at
www.cityofrichfieid.org/opentobiz
n to Business Advisor _aw
noLund@)mccdmn.org
Or contact Rob Smolund, Ope
612-789-7337, ext. 260 or rs @ g
