<br />.. <br /> <br />'I <br />'4 <br />I. <br /> <br />" <br />" <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No.9 7 -049 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRJGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLlCA nON TO THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL FOR A PI.ANNING ASSISTANCE <br />GRANT. <br /> <br />'j <br /> <br />WHEREAS; Minnesota Statutes sections 473.851 require local units of government to prepare local <br />comprehensive plans with land use controls consistent with the metropolitan systems plans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; the purpose of the planning assistance grant program is to assist local governmental units in the <br />01 metropolitan Area in implementing the Metropolitan Land Planning Act by reviewing and updating local <br />, i comprehensive plans; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; Minnesota Statutes 473.854 and 473.867 authorize the Metropolitan Council to prepare and adopt <br />guidelines establishing uniform procedures for the award and disbursement of planning assistance grants; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; amendments to the Metropolitan Land Planning Act require local communities to update their <br />comprehensive plans and official controls by December 31, 1998; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; in 1996, the Minnesota Legislature authorized the Metropolitan Council to transfer $1 million from <br />solid waste bond proceeds to the planning assistance grant program to assist local communities in meeting <br />! comprehensive planning requirements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; grants may not exceed 75% of the total costs to prepare the comprehensive plan update. Activities <br />eligible for funding include costs and expenses directly related to the planning activities specified in the work <br />program and may include staff pay, consultant or professional services, printing and publishing. The maximum <br />grant amount for each community is approximately $20,000. <br /> <br />WHEREAS; the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application to the Metropolitan Council for a <br />planning assistance grant to update and revise the City's comprehensive plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS; a certified copy of this resolution shall be submitted to the Metropolitan Council as part ofthe <br />planning assistance grant application. <br /> <br />ij <br /> <br />Now, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council hereby authorizes application to the Metropolitan <br />Council for a planning assistance grant. <br /> <br />Adopted this 22nd day of July, 1997. <br /> <br /> <br />,--L?../~, d <br />X-/f'fltl/': / '#"lL:- _, <br />Robert Benke, ' ayoi' <br /> <br /> <br />~anage' <br /> <br />j: <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />(Seal) <br />
