Spring 2002 Staff met to discuss future of project and decided to update <br />plans and possibly prepare for the Minnesota DNR's 2003 <br />local grants program application, as well as to ensure that all <br />park related efforts are coordinated with Community <br />Development and Public Works. <br />Summer 2002 Staff met with representatives from the Baptist Seminary to <br />discuss the purchase of their 27.16 acres for park purposes. <br />Since then, an appraisal has been completed of the <br />property. The 2002 appraised value was $237,000 or $.20 <br />per square foot. <br />Staff met with Mr. Don Leier to discuss the purchase or <br />donation of his family's 10 acre property. Since then, an <br />appraisal has been completed of the property. The 2002 <br />appraised value was $80,000 or $.35 per square foot, plus <br />$164,000 for the contributory value of ground lease for the <br />billboard. Total value appraised at $244,000. <br />*Neither party indicated an interest in donating their land for <br />park purposes. <br />Fall 2002 Staff met with the Rice Creek Watershed District to discuss a <br />possible partnership. RCWD is interested, but has not <br />committed any resources. <br />Requested and received the local grant application packet. <br />January 2003 Staff and Ingraham & Associates updated the 1998 concept <br />plan. <br />January 2003 City Council work session. Council indicated that the <br />acquisition and development of the Jones Lake Recreation <br />Area was not a priority due to the current economy and lack <br />of dedicated funds, but encouraged staff to explore <br />opportunities. <br />
