Mr. Anderson explained he saw the opening in the paper and his wife encouraged him to apply. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen inquired if Mr. Anderson was available on Monday nights for meetings. <br />Mr. Anderson stated this would work with his schedule. <br />Councilmember Bauman thanked Mr. Anderson for attending and for his willingness to serve the City. <br />Councilmember Burg asked the first question and wondered what were the three most important <br />responsibilities of an advisory commission member to the community. <br />Abe McEathron believed experience, innovation and responsibility were important. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen asked why he would be a good person to represent the opinions and concerns of the <br />City. <br />Mr. McEathron stated he has had a lot of experience in the City. He grew up north of New Brighton in Lino <br />Lakes, but now had children growing up in the City. <br />Councilmember Strub requested Mr. McEathron describe the contact he has had with the New Brighton Parks <br />and Recreation in New Brighton. It was noted that Mr. McEathron assisted with the rebuilding of Hanson <br />Park. <br />Mr. McEathron stated he helped with Hanson Park, which was a very good experience. He noted he was a den <br />leader for Scouts and used Hanson Park quite frequently. In addition, his troop sponsored a park clean up on <br />an annual basis. He stated he used ball fields for other activities and frequented the bike trails as well. <br />Councilmember Bauman requested further comment on any recreational sport or organization that Mr. <br />McEathron was affiliated with. <br />Mr. McEathron indicated he worked with Cub Scouts and the children enjoyed being in the parks. <br />Mayor Jacobsen questioned if Mr. McEathron saw any issues that faced the community concerning the City's <br />parks and recreation department. <br />Mr. McEathron believed trail maintenance could be improved. He was pleased by the improvements made to <br />some of the City's play structures. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen inquired if Mr. McEathron was available on Wednesday nights for meetings. <br />Mr. McEathron stated this would work with his schedule. He asked what issues PREC was currently <br />addressing. <br />Councilmember Strub indicated North Park and future parks within NBE were the largest issues being <br />discussed at this time. <br />Councilmember Bauman suggested park maintenance also be addressed by this group. <br />Councilmember Burg asked the first question and wondered what were the three most important <br />
