COf <br />'na EW <br />BRIGHTON <br />the city that works for you <br />2N <br />AGENDA SECTION: Special Business <br />REPORT DATE: May 20, 2015 <br />MEETING DATE: May 26, 2015 <br />REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERATION <br />ITEM DESCRIPTION: RECOGNITION OF MARK HERRICK, ENGINEERING AIDE IV & <br />FIREFIGHTER <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: <br />Craig Schlichting, Director of Community Assets and Development <br />Robert Jacobson, Director of Public Safety <br />CITY MANAGER APPROVAL: <br />No comments to supplement this report Comments attached <br />Recommendation: Ask that Mayor Jacobsen on behalf of the City Council present Mark Herrick a <br />Plaque of Appreciation for his retirement after 39 years of service as and Enginnering Aide IV, and 25 <br />years as a Firefighter for the City of New Brighton. <br />Legislative History: None <br />Explanation: Mark Herrick began his career in the Engineering Department with the City of New <br />Brighton on February 16, 1976. In October of 1989 he became a Firefighter, and has served the City in <br />both capacities ever since. <br />Mark has been a part of the reconstruction or construction of nearly every street in New Brighton. Mark <br />has also served with distinction for 25 years as a Firefighter, responding to many significant <br />emergencies at all hours of the day and night, leading Firefighters for several years as a Fire Captain. <br />Per the City Employee policy/handbook, section 33.2, staff members who resign and/or retire with more <br />than 20 years of service will receive a plaque or other award to recognize their service. <br />Craig G.
