<br /><< <br />~ <br /> <br />"- <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97-040 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING <br />PARTICIPATION IN COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES OF <br />MINNESOTA POLICE RECRUITMENT SYSTEM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of New Brighton is a defendant along with the Minnesota Police <br /> <br />Recruitment System, a Minnesota joint powers organization ("MPRS"), and 35 other Minnesota <br /> <br />cities in two companion civil actions in Hennepin County District Court entitled Fields v. MPRS, <br /> <br />et al. and Starks v. MPRS, et aI., District Court File Numbers EM 93-218 and EM 93-219 <br /> <br />(collectively referred to as the "Action"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by Order of the Court dated November 7, 1996 (the "Order") in the action, <br /> <br />the defendants are obligated to undertake certain activities relating to the recruitment and hiring <br /> <br />of minority persons; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the MPRS has offered to undertake certain of such activities on behalf of <br /> <br />defendant cities which wish to act cooperatively to fulfill their obligation as set forth in the Order, <br /> <br />on terms and conditions established by the MPRS; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to <br /> <br />participate cooperatively in the MPRS program; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of New <br /> <br />Brighton, Minnesota as follows: <br /> <br />1. The City authorizes and approves participation in the cooperative activities of the <br /> <br />MPRS in accordance with the terms and conditions established for such participation by the <br /> <br />MPRS. <br />
