Why MnPASS Lanes v. General
Purpose Lanes?
► There is very little money to invest in Twin Cities' mobility and
congestion improvements in the future, so it's imperative we get
the highest possible return from these investments.
A return that:
• Maximizes the number of people that can be moved through a corridor
during peak congested periods
• Provides a reliable congestion -free option for transit, carpools and other
commuters
• Increases transit ridership and encourages higher vehicle occupancies
• Can be sustained over a 20-30 period
► MnPASS lanes can provide such a return - GP lanes cannot
► As a result, MnDOT and the Met Council have adopted a vision
for a MnPASS network throughout the Metro area
]pO,NµEgOT9y0
OF 7pP
