December 8, 2015 Page 10 of 11 <br />Brian Struh <br />Councilmember Strub appreciated the fact that staff was conducting an internal food drive for <br />the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. He appreciated their generous efforts. He noted there would be <br />a blood drive at the Public Safety Building on January 6th. He reported the Public Safety <br />Committee would meet next in January. He thanked the Mayor for mentoring him over the <br />past two years. He then wished everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy <br />New Year. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the Cable Commission met on Thursday, December 3rd. She <br />explained the group discussed potential meeting topics for 2016. Fees for the use of <br />programming services was also reviewed. She was pleased to report that nine out of nine <br />member cities have supported the CenturyLink franchise. She provided a recap of the items <br />discussed by the EDC on December 2nd <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the City newsletter has been sent out. She encouraged residents <br />to sign up for programs offered through the both the Community Center and the Park and <br />Recreation Department. She noted the Eagles Nest had 120 events in November. She <br />explained the New Brighton Park and Recreation Department was recently awarded a <br />Government Initiative Award for their Read and Play Program. She noted Brightwood Hills <br />closed late this year and was able to fit in a great deal of rounds in November. She commented <br />the 11th Annual Health and Fitness Expo would be held on Saturday, January 9th. She stated <br />this was a free event for the public and would be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. She <br />reported PREC would meet next on Wednesday, January 6th at 6:30 p.m. She thanked Mayor <br />Jacobsen for his service to the community and stated it has been a pleasure to serve with him. <br />She wished everyone Happy Holidays. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission would not meet in December but <br />instead would be meeting on Tuesday, January 12th. He wished all City staff members, City <br />Council and New Brighton residents all the best through the holidays. He thanked Mayor <br />Jacobsen for his service to the community and stated he valued his input and mentoring over <br />the past four years. <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported the last six years have been eventful for him and he appreciated the <br />opportunity to serve his community. He was pleased by the positive results that have been <br />achieved.
