December 1, 2015 Page 1 of 6 Cttv a � COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS the city that works for you THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON Pursuant to notice thereof, a City Council meeting and 2016 Budget Hearing of the New Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the New Brighton Council Chambers. Present: Mayor Jacobsen, Councilmembers Bauman, Burg, Jacobsen and Strub Absent: Also Present: Dean Lotter -City Manager, Brenda Davitt-Finance Director, Craig Schlichting- Community Assets and Development Director Call to Order Call to order Mayor Jacobsen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Jacobsen led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance. Approval of Agenda Approval of the December 1, 2015 Council Agenda. Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Burg to approve the agenda as submitted. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried Public Hearings A. 2016 Budget Hearing City Manager Lotter stated Staff has a presentation for Council this evening. He explained after the presentation, a budget hearing would be held. Finance Director Davitt explained that in September, the Council approved the preliminary levy and notices were sent to property owners in the City. She welcomed the residents present and noted the purpose of the hearing this evening was to discuss the proposed 2016 budget, while also informing the taxpayers of the proposed property tax levies. She indicated the goals of the budget were as follows: • Provide those services that are desired by the community. • Provide services to community in most cost effective manner. • Maintain the delivery of high quality services. • Plan for future of the community. • Provide for City's infrastructure and capital needs. • Ensure the City's long-term financial stability.
