Helipad, 1100 Old Highway 8 NW, New Brighton, MN 55112
Dear Mrs. Gundlach,
The intent of this letter is to provide an explanation of changes and updated rendering for
the APi Group helipad project.
Issue
Through working with MnDOT it was decided that APi needs a different MnDOT license
than previously thought.
Discussion
The list of requirements to obtain this license, a Private Use License, is much greater than
what is required to obtain the previous license, a Personal Use License. To meet the
Private Use requirements, AN had to alter the helipad design.
Recommendation
The original concept of the helipad remains intact. It is unlikely that the casual observer
will notice the existence of the helipad. We are keeping wind/dust barriers in place to
reduce impacts on the community, and the pleasant aesthetic of the helipad is still an
important consideration for APi.
To adhere to the Private Use License requirements, the landing surface needs to be
elevated 36". The elevated landing surface will be fully concealed behind a row of 36"
evergreen shrubs, and reinforced with a permeable turf enhancement product. A gradual
stair will connect the walkway to the landing surface.
