14  <br />  <br />THE CITY CLERK <br /> <br />The City Clerk position is established and required by Minnesota State Statutes §412.681. The person who <br />holds this position works under the direction of the City Manager and has numerous duties prescribed through- <br />out state statutes. Some of these duties include: <br />City Council Support <br />Keeping a minute book containing City Council proceedings <br />Keeping an Ordinance Book recording all ordinances passed by the City Council <br />Commissioner Recruitment and Selection <br />Commission Support for the Planning and EDC Commissions <br />Posting and publishing notice of elections and meetings and other items as required <br />Recording and Management of Contracts, Project Bids and Public Notices for the City <br />Administering all elections for the City <br />Signing all official papers <br />Serving as the custodian of the City seal and records <br />Insuring data compliance for the City, as well as overseeing data storage and processing data re- <br />quests <br />Business Licensing <br />Management of the City Website <br />Management of Public Press Releases, as well as Internal department Communication <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY ASSETS & DEVELOPMENT (DCAD) <br /> <br />This department is responsible for three main areas: Planning, Engineering and Public Works. It is led by a <br />Director/Civil Engineer and an Assistant Director. Additional Planning and Engineering employees include an <br />Engineering Aide IV, a Public Works Engineering Technician, a Community Assets & Development/GIS Ana- <br />lyst, a Code Compliance Inspector, a Building Official, a Building Inspector and an Office Assistant. Among <br />other things, the Planning and Engineering teams within this department are responsible for the following are- <br />as: <br />Reviewing, updating, and amending the City’s comprehensive plan <br />Reviewing and enforcing the City’s zoning ordinances <br />Reviewing individual projects land use applications to ensure consistency with the City’s Compre- <br />hensive Plan <br />Ensuring compliance with zoning ordinances, and other land uses, and issuing appropriate permits <br />for work on such <br />Coordinating local plans and programs with those of other public agencies <br />Ensuring residential and commercial compliance with building codes and code enforcement issues <br />and issuing appropriate permits for such <br /> <br />The Public Works team within this department has a Superintendent, two Supervisors, ten Maintenance Work- <br />ers, two Mechanics and one Office Assistant. The Public Works team is responsible for overseeing these areas: <br />Engineering <br />Snow removal <br />Maintenance of City buildings, streets, and sidewalks <br />Maintenance of all water, sewer, and storm water facilities <br /> <br /> <br />
