Director of Community Assets & <br />Development/Planning Director 1e <br />SUBJECT: Commissioner Training �J <br />City Clerk Terri Haarstad will attend Wednesday's meeting and give a commissioner <br />training presentation. This presentation will discussion the following topics: <br />• City government basics <br />• New Brighton's vision, mission, and goals <br />• General commission information <br />• EDC -specific information <br />• Commissioner conduct <br />• Communication expectations <br />• Open meeting law <br />• MN Government Data Practices Act <br />In addition to a brief overview of the above topics, the City Clerk will review the <br />transition from paper packets to electronic packets and distribute iPads to commission <br />members. <br />Your attendance at the commissioner training is very important. Some commission <br />members have received City Attorney training on similar topics in the past, however <br />many have not. Also, paper packets will no longer be distributed and commission <br />members will be expected to access their packet materials via a City -issued iPad. <br />Included in the commissioner training will be an overview of the application used for <br />electronic packets. <br />Lastly, the City Attorney will be in attendance to help address any questions or concerns <br />that may arise regarding these topics. <br />
