May 24. 2016 <br />Roseville where she was advised it was completely proper for City COunellmenlbers to consult <br />with the City Attorney on City matters. She explained that she heard from eight other <br />individuals from eight different cities that she was well within her rights to speak with the City <br />Attorney regarding the proposed petition. <br />Mayor Johnson requested City Clerk Haarstad place a sample petition on the monitors. She <br />then reviewed the sample petition with the Council noting what information was to be included <br />in each box for the petition. <br />City Attorney Sonsalla described the differences between the title of a petition and summary <br />statement for a petition. She reiterated that the petition had a clear title but lacked a summary <br />statement. <br />Brian Strub <br />COUncilmelnber Strub reported the Public Safety Commission would not be meeting in May. <br />Their next meeting would be held on Monday. June 27"'. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission met last Tuesday. He reviewed <br />the matters that were discussed. It was noted the Shoreland Ordinance was tabled to the June <br />Planning Commission meeting to allow for the City to receive comments fi•om the DNR. <br />Mavor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported New Brighton Cleanup Days was held on Saturday. She thanked all <br />who assisted and participated in this event. She stated the Mayor's Golf Challenge would be <br />held on Monday. June 13t". She thanked City Manager Lotter and Finance Director Davitt for <br />providing her additional training on TIF. She discussed a water seminar she attended last week <br />where she learned a great deal about the history of the City of Minneapolis water. <br />Mary Bu r <br />Councilmember Burg reported last week she attended the grand opening at Northeast Bank. <br />She welcomed this new business to the City of New Brighton. She mentioned the Park and <br />Recreation staff visited Rockwell Animation where healthy living was discussed. She <br />encoura,7ed the public to participate in the Mayor's Golf Challenge at Kellar Golf Course on <br />June 13t�. She stated on Wednesday, June 1 s'there would be a silent auction for the nc\v <br />farmer's market at the United Theological Seminary. She indicated the Community Center <br />would be closed on Memorial Day. She explained there would be a seminar for seniors 55 and <br />older on Wednesday, June 8"' called Ideas for Life at the New Brighton Community Center <br />from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It was noted lunch would be provided at this event. She reported <br />PREC would be meeting twice in June to discuss the Eagle`s Nest.
