She discussed an event that would occur on Tuesday, July 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the New Brighton Library. She noted the New Brighton Community Center would be closed on Monday, July 4th. She reported the Parks and Recreation Committee would meet again in September. Paul Jacobsen Councilmember Jacobsen thanked Public Safety Director Jacobson for this dedicated service to the City of New Brighton over the past 33 years. He appreciated the efforts of Tony Patznek for stepping in and serving as the Acting Public Safety Director for the City. He reviewed the items the Planning Commission discussed last Tuesday. He noted the City Water Report was now available for review. He congratulated the Irondale Robotics team for another great season. He noted the City was still seeking election judges for both the primary and general elections. He wished everyone a Happy 4th of July. Mayor Johnson Mayor Johnson wished Public Safety Director Jacobson a happy retirement. She then introduced Acting Public Works Director Tony Patznek to the public. She stated Rotary now had a new meeting space and would begin meeting at The Exchange every Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. She encouraged all residents to become a member of the New Brighton Historical Society. She looked forward to attending the City’s farmer’s market on Wednesday, July 6th. She discussed an upcoming Council event that would take place at Vermont Park on Thursday, July 21st at 6:30 p.m. She invited the residents adjacent to this park to attend this event. She thanked the City for making great decisions regarding the City’s water supply. She looked forward to the interconnection with the City of Minneapolis being completed. She wished Officer Kathy McNeely well in her retirement and thanked her for her 25 years of service to the community. She noted a reception for Officer McNeely would be held on Friday, July 29th at the Community Center from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. She congratulated the Irondale Trap Shooters for placing first in State and thanked the New Brighton Sportsman’s Club for their support. She congratulated Columbia Heights for being named one of ten all-American cities.
