She stated she was present to assist the Council with a
strategy session for NSCC. She presented a brie f video and asked for comments on what was going well and
what challenges were facing NSCC.

Councilmember Jacobsen asked how the City would be impacted by having two cable companies now within
its network. He wondered if the same experience would be offered by both vendors. Ms. Ray discussed the
packages that would be offered by Comcast and CenturyLink.

Councilmember Jacobsen questioned if the nine city consortium would be changing. Ms. Ray did not
anticipate any changes in the near future.

Councilmember Burg understood there was one less city contributing to NSCC and inquired of this was
creating any challenges. Ms. Ray stated from the meetings she has attended she has learned that the city that
left has not found a cheaper solution than NSCC. She reported that Comcast was more willing to negotiate
with consortiums than single cities.

Mayor Johnson explained she really liked the work being done by CTV. She saw this as a valuable for
residents, especially during elections.

Councilmember Jacobsen believed it would be nice to have even more available on local elected officials and
forums for incoming candidates.

Councilmember Strub appreciated the adult education available at NSCC. He indicated he has not served as a
liaison to this group, but stated he would like to see additional ways to build community. He commented this
may be a good topic of discussion for the Council at a future worksession meeting.

Councilmember Burg agreed that additional community programming would benefit New Brighton.

Mayor Johnson stated perhaps the Historical Society, Rotary Club and Lion’s Club , or other local non-profits
could bring forward some programming ideas.
