He <br />thanked the Council for responding to staff regarding what parties they would be attending. He <br />stated work continues at the water treatment facility and walls would be poured soon. He <br />updated the Council on the E2 bridge stating a great deal of peat has been removed. <br /> <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman requested she be reinstated as a Council Liaison. <br /> <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Public Safety Commission will not meet in July. He <br />reminded the public to participate in National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2nd and to get <br />their block parties registered with the Public Safety Department. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported the Cable Commission has not met in the last two months. She <br />provided comment on the Vermont Park neighborhood meeting. She was pleased to report that <br />representatives from Astra Zeneca assisted in removing buckthorn from a local park. She <br />encouraged New Brighton residents to visit Dairy Queen on Old Highway 8 on Tuesday, <br />August 16th where 10% of all proceeds will be donated to Park and Recreation scholarships. <br />She noted Brightwood Hills hosted the 2nd Annual Juniors Scramble with 14 2-player teams. <br />She indicated the City newsletter was recently mailed out. She encouraged residents to read <br />through this important publication. She invited the public to participate in the numerous events <br />planned for Stockyard Days. She reported the Park and Recreation Commission would meet <br />next on Wednesday, August 3rd. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission met on Tuesday, July 19th. He <br />was pleased that action was finally taken on the Shoreland Ordinance. He looked forward to <br />visiting a number of National Night Out block parities next Tuesday and thanked the City for <br />the huge amount of participating in this event. He encouraged the public to get out and <br />participate in Stockyard Days August 7th-15th. He noted the parade would be held on <br />Thursday, August 11th. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported she recently met with the Mayor’s and City Administrators from the <br />five surrounding communities. She noted the E2 bridge was scheduled to open on Saturday, <br />August 13th. She discussed the ribbon cutting ceremony that was held in the lower level of <br />City Hall for the Minnesota Chiefs of Police and the Upper Midwest Policing Institute. She <br />discussed a donation that was made by the Rotary Club to the New Brighton Historical <br />Society. She thanked the City for doing a great job communicating with the public regarding <br />the water situation.
