August 8, 2016 Page 3 of 4 <br />December and the final budget would be approved in December. He thanked residents for <br />contacting the City with their concerns regarding the water coloration noting all concerns have <br />been addressed. He explained the City was working to develop a new website. A soft launch <br />for the new site would be conducted in September. He stated he was very impressed by the <br />new site noting it was user driven and user friendly. He was happy to report that the new site <br />included a page on New Brighton’s history. <br /> <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub wished everyone a happy Stockyard Days and encouraged New <br />Brighton residents to participate in the wonderful community events planned for the coming <br />week. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported Park and Recreation met last week. The group discussed <br />recycling and trash collection. Ideas would be passed along to the Council at a future meeting. <br />She noted Brightwood Hills has had six holes in one this year. She read the list of individuals <br />that completed this fete. She updated the public on the HVAC improvements that were <br />occurring at the Community Center. She noted the Community Center would be closed <br />September 5th through September 9th for annual cleaning and painting. She explained she <br />attended the recent Cable Commission meeting where the strategic plan was discussed. She <br />was pleased to report that Matt Hegge would be receiving an award for his program. She <br />invited the public to visit CTV if interested in learning more about the programs and <br />opportunities available. She reported the Park and Recreation Commission would meet next <br />on Wednesday, September 7th. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated the City had 130 National Night Out parties last Tuesday. He <br />thanked the community and the Public Safety Department for their strong involvement. He <br />noted CPY held their carnival and golf ball drop last Saturday. He discussed the events <br />planned for Stockyard Days and noted he took in the bike races with his family and foreign <br />exchange student. He reported the Planning Commission would meet next on Tuesday, August <br />19th. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported Stockyard Days was favorite week of the year. She reviewed the <br />events that were scheduled for this week and thanked Pat Weiland for organizing the bike <br />races. She was pleased with how successful the bike races were and looked forward to <br />conducting this event again in 2017. She encouraged New Brighton residents to take in the <br />parade on Thursday night. She thanked all of the local sponsors that made this year’s <br />Stockyard Days possible. She discussed the events she attended for National Night Out and <br />thanked the Police and Fire Department for their participation.
