<br /> <br />Mayor Johnson believed the proposed increases were very modest and recommended the public be informed of <br />the new assistance program if the new rates were a concern. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked staff for providing the Council with a thorough presentation and detailed <br />timeline for the City’s infrastructure improvements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg appreciated staff’s leadership in making these recommendations in order for the City to <br />continue to provide public utilities to New Brighton residents in an efficient and cost effective manner. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strub requested further information from staff on the financial assistance program. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson thanked staff for their thorough presentation. <br /> <br /> <br />Survey Questionnaire Review <br />Lotter explained the Council approved a contract with the survey company, NRC, at its last meeting. He then <br />reviewed the survey questionnaire in further detail with the Council and asked for comments. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg appreciated the fact that NRC would be presenting the results of the survey given the <br />fact they were a third party. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen stated there were no direct questions regarding the City’s parks. He recommended a <br />question be added to gain feedback on how residents use the City’s parks and what a residents’ favorite park <br />might be. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg suggested a question be added to assist the Council in learning what residents wanted to <br />see in the City, if money were no object. In addition, she wanted to know what decision makers could do to <br />improve community. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson suggested a question be added to ask if the public would be more apt to vote for local elections <br />during an odd year, even year or it makes no difference. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen asked that a question be added on what would be the best method to provide <br />residents with information from the City. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued regarding the proposed City water questions. <br /> <br />The Council was interested in adding several questions to address the public perception of the City’s water. <br /> <br />Councilmember Burg believed residents were listening but wanted to be assured that the information received <br />from was always accurate. Lotter discussed how staff worked to put forward correct and accurate messages on <br />behalf of the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jacobsen requested a question be asked on how residents were participating in the community, <br />whether at neighborhood meetings, National Night Out, Town Hall, etc. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bauman discussed two questions she believed to be redundant, Questions 3 and 23. She <br />suggested the questions be consolidated. <br /> <br />
