<br /> <br />MINUTES <br />New Brighton Economic Development Commission <br />Regular Meeting – June 1, 2016 <br />7:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Members/Liaisons Present: Commissioners Al Potter, Bob Benke, Monica Garcia-Perez (arrived at <br />7:35 a.m.), Kevin Peck, Mike Murlowski, Harry Carter and Graeme Allen <br /> <br />Members/Liaisons Absent: Chair Paul Zisla, Commissioner D.L. Beach <br /> <br />Staff Present: Janice Gundlach- Assistant Director of Community Assets & Development/Planning <br />Director and Mayor Valerie Johnson <br />Also Present: <br />Call to Order <br />Acting Chairperson Benke called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br />Motion by Commissioner Peck, seconded by Commissioner Murlowski to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br /> <br />Approved 7-0 <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br />Motion by Commissioner Potter, seconded by Commissioner Murlowski to approve the minutes from <br />the May 4, 2016 meeting. <br /> <br />Approved 7-0 <br /> <br />Report from Council Liaison <br />Mayor Johnson provided the EDC with an update from the City Council. She explained City Manager <br />Lotter just returned from a trip to Delaware to view a water treatment plant. It was noted the Eagle’s <br />Nest improvements would be delayed for one year. <br /> <br />Sense of Place <br />Gundlach stated going back to February of 2015, the EDC developed four categories that collectively <br />defined the Commission’s work plan surrounding Economic Development. The City Council was <br />presented these items in March of 2015 and affirmed the following topic areas: <br /> <br /> Physical Redevelopment <br /> Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) <br /> Sense of Place <br /> Housing Programs <br /> <br />Gundlach explained the Commission has spent considerable time on the Physical Redevelopment topic, <br />providing recommendations and guidance to Council on all issues New Brighton Exchange. <br />Additionally, in 2015 the Commission formulated policies surrounding BR&E and bringing in Open to <br />Business to provide services to existing business.
