We’d like to wrap this up soon and get an ordinance adopted in
May. When could I expect a response on our latest draft ordinance? Please advise, thanks!

Janice Gundlach
Assistant Director of Community Assets
& Development/Planning Director
City of New Brighton
803 Old Highway 8 NW
New Brighton, MN 55112

Direct: 651‐638‐2059
Email: Janice.Gundlach@NewBrightonMN.gov
City’s Website: www.newbrightonmn.gov

From: Janice Gundlach
Sent: Monday, April 11, 2016 4:29 PM
To: 'Sorensen, Jenifer (DNR)'
Cc: Molly Patterson-Lundgren (mollypl@wsbeng.com); Craig Schlichting; Petrik, Daniel (DNR); Bauman, Matthew (DNR)
Subject: RE: DNR Comments on New Brighton Draft SL Ordinance

Good Afternoon Jennifer,

Please find attached the latest New Brighton draft Shoreland Ordinance. I was hoping to get this to you sooner,
however various other projects and a vacation caused the delay.

In an effort to make the draft ordinance easier to review, I’ve attached a table explaining the edits that were undertaken
based upon your comments. I believe we’ve appropriately addressed nearly every DNR comment provided. The big
issue remaining is the allowable hardcover percentage. Please review my comment to this item and let me know if you
have questions.

Our Planning Commission will be asked to re‐open the public hearing on Tuesday, April 19th. Ultimately, I’ll likely ask
them to table action until I hear confirmation on whether the DNR is willing to accept our ordinance, including the
various areas where we’ve asked for flexibility from the state rules. Can you let me know when I might expect to hear
back?

Lastly, thanks for your willingness to work with us on this. It will be nice for New Brighton to finally have an adopted
Shoreland Ordinance. I eagerly await your response, thanks!

Janice Gundlach
Assistant Director of Community Assets
& Development/Planning Director
City of New Brighton
