<br />Public Safety Commission <br />December 7th, 2015 <br /> <br /> <br />Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Anderson, Commissioner Boyd, <br />Commissioner Eichers, Commissioner Hollimon, Commissioner Kerns, <br />Commissioner Lamp, Commissioner Schumann, Director Jacobson, <br />Council Member Strub, and Renee Rosenberg (Allina Health) <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioner Donohue <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen called the December 7th meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> <br />September Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />The September meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Eichers made a motion to <br />approve the September meeting minutes; Commissioner Kerns seconded. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Presentation <br />A. None Scheduled <br /> <br /> <br />Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br /> <br />No Report. <br /> <br />Department Reports <br />A. Human Rights <br /> <br />No Report <br /> <br />B. Allina Health <br />Renee Rosenberg of Allina Health reported that they are very busy and experiencing about a 9% <br />increase in call volume each year. This has required adding additional paramedics and EMTs in <br />2015. And, in 2016, Allina has increased their standards for paramedics requiring an Associate <br />Degree. They have also revamped their 16 member paramedic bike team which can be used to <br />assist with community celebrations, etc. including Stockyard Days. <br /> <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen reported that they have had two meetings since our last Public Safety <br />Commission meeting. Activities include hosting another blood drive resulting in 19 pints of <br />blood. The next blood drive will be January 6th. Bike helmet sales will continue and Halloween <br />glow sticks were given out during Halloween by patrol officers. Officer Hamdorf did an <br />excellent terrorism presentation at the latest VIPS meeting.
