10 <br /> <br />On Tuesday morning August 16th, City staff under the direction of Fire Marshal Kip <br />Lamotte continued their efforts to replace smoke detectors in residences in the Linden <br />Drive townhome association. Last year a resident contacted Fire Marshal Lamotte and <br />asked him if he could help change a smoke detector because it was placed on a vaulted <br />ceiling and they could not change it. Fire Marshal Lamotte worked with the townhome <br />association and determined many of the residents were senior citizens and not able to <br />change the detectors. Fire Marshal Lamotte worked with the association to purchase 10 <br />year smoke alarm batteries and new smoke detectors, and City staff is changing the <br />detectors for them to ensure they are kept safe. <br /> <br /> <br />On August 28th the NBDPS was dispatched to a report of a cooking oil fire in an <br />apartment building in the 300 block of Old Highway 8 SW. Upon arrival units <br />determined the fire was extinguished by the resident who stated they didn't know what to <br />do when they saw the fire...but then remembered the cooking fire demonstration
