I:\Commissions - NEW FOLDER\PREC (Parks Recreation and Environmental Commission)\2016\Packets\2016.06.01\Item V ENReplacement.doc <br /> <br /> <br />Memo <br /> <br />To: Parks Recreation and Environmental Committee <br />From: Bill Bach, Facilities Manager <br />Subject: Eagles Nest Replacement <br />Date: June 1, 2016 <br /> <br />The Eagles Nest Indoor Playground is identified to be replaced in 2016 in the <br />Non-Fleet Capital Asset Replacement Program. The current structure was <br />constructed in 2003 with a 10 year life expectancy. The Eagles Nest has become <br />a place of destination for many individuals and groups. In addition to hosting <br />approximately 1,000 Birthday parties and groups each year, nearly 50,000 <br />individual youth daily admissions are sold annually with revenues of $3,803,717 <br />since 2003. <br /> <br />Council authorized staff to advertise for bids and solicit quotes at the April 12 <br />meeting. After receiving authorization, staff distributed project materials to known <br />playground vendors and advertised the project as required. Two vendors <br />attended the required informational, meeting and submitted plans/bids. These <br />two vendors will present their plans art the June 1 PREC meeting as follows: <br /> <br /> 6:45PM - Orca Coast, Port Coquitlam, BC Canada <br /> 7:45PM - Soft Play, Huntersville, NC <br />Each company will be given forty-five (45) minutes for their presentation with a <br />fifteen minute discussion in-between presentations. Each PREC and staff <br />member will provide a fifteen (15) point objective evaluation for each plan <br />presented. Each vendor will be allowed a maximum of two plans. <br /> <br />PREC will have the option for scoring at the June 1st meeting or at a special <br />PREC meeting on June 8th and make a final recommendation to City Council for <br />the Council June 14 meeting, <br /> <br />
