We already have lots of green space there, please do another court!
2. Janene Unke-Hanson, Janene@unkeweb.com,
 We enjoy playing tennis and feel it would be a shame for both young and old alike to
lose this court to play.
 We would like to recommend that either the tennis court itself be replaced with a
new one OR make the existing one into 2 Pickleball courts. I’m not sure of the
knowledge or interest in the sport of Pickleball in our area, but feel it would be a
great option if a new tennis court option is not popular. Co mmunity Ed classes could
be offered during the summer as well to make education available to all – again,
young and old alike to learn about the great sport of Pickleball.
 Please consider NOT just removing and replacing with an open “green’ space. We
believe the nearby Silverwood Park has plenty of this! Our area needs a close option
for some type of racket sport where people of all ages can get outside and exercise
in this way!
3. definitely!!!, thank you for asking!
4. Love the tennis court!
5. I don’t know what current tennis court usage is. If demand for Pickleball > tennis, I would
suggest Pickleball. If not, stay with tennis courts.
6. We use the court a lot with my daughter who is on the tennis team.
7. Tennis court gets used quite a bit. We believe this will be the best use of the space moving
forward. George & Laurie Zurbey, 1801 3rd St SW, 612-275-8898.
8. Including a center strap for the net.

Votes for this as a second choice: 1
Second choice vote was not included in the tennis court count.
(1st choices were counted and recorded).
20
Make the existing Tennis Court into (2) Pickleball courts.
(approx. $45,000)

Comments:
1. Pickleball is a fast growing sport and I would love to see more courts in New Brighton
instead of having to drive to other cities’ courts. Yanmick Hurry, 553 5 th Ave NW, New
Brighton
2. Yes, would love to have Pickleball – this is an older neighborhood.
3. Repair or replace. We, being a number of New Brighton resident Pickleball players, would
like to see the court surface repaired/replaced/maintained for future use. Preventive
maintenance goes a long way for most efficient use. The surface should be str iped for
pickleball; two courts on the same surface and also could be striped for one tennis court. Two
portable/on wheels nets could be available for pickleball and possibly tennis net also. The
popularity of pickleball has grown in our area with interest for many age groups. The interest
in the present outdoor courts for tennis players’ use has declined to the point where very few
are using the courts, as compared to the number of pickleball participants. The
foundation/fencing, etc., for pickleball courts is already in place for striping for two pickleball
courts and possibly one tennis court. The cost would be minimal.
