<br /> <br />The RCECC has about 140 total staff; they lose about 1 person/month. Being a call taker and a <br />dispatcher is a very technical job and you need to have common sense and customer service skills. <br />New employees attend 3 weeks classroom training and then have 6-8 weeks on-the-job training. <br /> <br />Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br /> <br />No Report. <br /> <br />Department Reports <br />A. Human Rights <br /> <br />No Report <br /> <br />B. Allina Health <br />Ms. Renee Rosenberg noted that Allina Health will be hosting the March PSC meeting at their <br />Mounds View hub. <br /> <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen reported that the Santa Cop program, coordinated by Officer McNeely, <br />provided assistance to 48 families and 125 children. <br /> <br />Other items of note: <br /> The next blood drive is scheduled for Wednesday, March 30, from 12:30-6:30 pm at the <br />Public Safety Center. <br /> The Volunteer Appreciation dinner is scheduled for Sunday, April 24. <br /> There will be a CERT Refresher course held on Tuesday, March 22. <br /> <br />D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> <br />Deputy Director Paetznick noted we held the third annual Public Safety department meeting on <br />February 22. Mr. Drew Evans, Superintendent of the BCA, was our speaker and the awards <br />included Stork Awards, Milestone Awards, Letter of Commendation for the support staff, Officer <br />Farmer was the Traffic Officer of the Year, Fire Fighter Reif was the Fire Fighter of the Year, and <br />Officer Kingslien was the Police Officer of the Year. <br /> <br />February has been a very busy month for the Fire department. <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen asked if we are looking into body cameras for police officers. Deputy <br />Director Paetznick stated we are waiting for the legislature to decide on data retention laws before <br />we get body cameras; we will want to integrate these with the squad cameras as well. <br /> <br />Council Liaison <br />A. Council Report <br /> <br />Council Member Brian Strub reported Council representatives have been appointed to the <br />commissions and he will stay with the Public Safety Commission.
