Council Liaison
A. Council Report

Council Member Brian Strub, noted several items including the following:

o Council Member Strub supported the public swearing-in of new officers.
o Council Member Strub attended the June 22nd MNDOT I-35W sound wall meeting (proposed
two new walls in New Brighton for SE and Grid 14 neighborhoods).
o Regarding Director Jacobson’s retirement, Council Member Strub spoke about the legacy of
stability and reliability of the organization.
o Council Member Strub noted that Council has been approached by Lake Region Youth
Hockey to create a local preference ordinance for charitable gambling; there will be a work
session in the future. Council Member Strub does not know if the Public Safety Commission
will have a role in this process but welcomed opinions of the group. Commissioner Anderson
questioned if existing groups would be grandfathered. Commissioner Howard asked for
clarification on how to offer input/opinion.

Old Business

Commissioner Lamp expressed her appreciation for the new iPad technology but stressed the need
for more time to acclimate to such changes in the future.

New Business
A. Discussion on Change of Meeting Night

Commissioner Allen opened the discussion regarding future meeting nights; Monday versus
Wednesday. Three commissioners indicated it would be impossible for them to meet on Wednesdays
(Lamp, Hollimon, Conway). Commissioner Eichers and Commissioner Anderson questioned why
the issue was even brought up.

Commissioner Allen confirmed that the consensus was to leave the meeting night on Mondays.

Adjourn

Commissioner Anderson made a motion to adjourn the June Public Safety Commission meeting;
seconded by Commissioner Hollimon. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:47 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

_______________________
Anthony Paetznick
Deputy Director – Public Safety
