Public Hearing <br />None. <br />Council Business <br />None. <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Tatter <br />January 10, 2017 Page 3 of <br />Public Hearing <br />City Manager Lotter provided the Council with a progress report on the City's water. He noted <br />Barr Engineering was ahead of schedule on the drawings. He anticipated bids would be taken <br />in February and a contractor would be awarded in April. He then discussed the transition the <br />City would be making with its Finance software to BS&A. He indicated the City would be <br />switching over to this software the third week in January and building permits would be <br />unavailable for a short period of time. He described how the new software would have greater <br />efficiencies for the building department. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Public Safety Department would be hosting a blood drive <br />along with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, January 18 1h from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. He <br />reported there was no parking on City streets during snow events with 3 or more inches of <br />snow. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission would meet next on Tuesday, <br />January 17`1' at 7:00 p.m. He wished everyone a Happy New Year and stated he was looking <br />forward to working with staff and the Council in 2017. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the EDC met on Wednesday, January 0' where they <br />discussed a business that was interested in Block D of NBE called TUV SUD. She explained <br />the group offered APi an extension until Tuesday, January 31St to report back to the City <br />regarding their option. She noted the Cable Commission would be meeting next on Thursday, <br />February 2"d. <br />Mary Burs <br />Councilmember Burg reported PREC would be discussing the potential of a dog park in New <br />Brighton in the coming months. She encouraged those interested in serving on a City <br />Commission or Committee to contact City Hall for further information. She then reviewed the <br />number of visitors and birthday parties that were held at the Community Center in 2016, noting <br />it was a banner year. She invited the public to attend a bonfire at Freedom Park on Saturday, <br />.lauuary 281h from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Those attending were encouraged to bring a non- <br />perishable food item. She encouraged the public to get out and take advantage of the local <br />skating rinks. She explained PREC held their annual Health and Fitness Expo on Saturday, <br />s January 7th and over 850 people were in attendance. She wished Leslie Young well in her new <br />position and thanked her for her service to the City of New Brighton.
