He then introduced Assistant City Manager Devin Massopust to the City <br />Council. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman provided the Council with an update on the recent Cable Commission <br />meeting she attended. It was noted the group discussed the future of public and educational <br />broadcasting after a significant amount of funding would be lost. <br />Mayor Johnson suggested the Council discuss the Cable Commission and their funding at a <br />future worksession meeting. <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Public Safety Commission would meet next on March 27th <br />at 6:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center. He congratulated the Barley John Brewpub on their <br />17th Anniversary and encouraged the public to visit this local eatery on Thursday evening. <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Planning Commission will meet next on March 21 s` at <br />7:00 p.m. at City Hall. He stated he attended a Leaders Luncheon for CPY last Tuesday at the <br />New Brighton Community Center. He thanked Girl Scouts Troop #55781 for attending this <br />meeting and for working to build community in New Brighton. <br />Mavor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson reported she was at the State Capitol on Monday meeting with the House of <br />Representatives where she requested Legacy Funding for assistance for the treatment of Long <br />Lake. She encouraged residents to come out to Hanson Park on Thursday, March 23rd for the <br />neighborhood meeting. She stated on Wednesday she would be at the Capitol again along with <br />other mayors from the north metro. She discussed the interviews that were held by the City <br />Council for the open Commission and Committee positions noting she was very pleased by the <br />number of high quality candidates. It was noted the Council would be making a decision on <br />these positions on March 28t1i.
