<br />:r <br /> <br />.t <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />I · <br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 96-047 <br /> <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REVOKING No TRUCK TRAFFIC IN EXCESS OF 10,000 POUNDS GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT <br />ON 8TH AVENUENW BETWEEN OLD HIGHWAY 8 AND 10TH STREETNW. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in about 1972 Ramsey County, at the request of the City of New Brighton, posted <br />8th Avenue NW between Old Highway 8 and 10th Street NW, No Truck Traffic in Excess of to,OOO <br />I Pounds Gross Vehicle Weight, because of complaints from residents about truck noise and a concern <br />for safety of children at the New Brighton Elementary School, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1978 Old Highway 8 was reconstructed making 8th A venue a right angle <br />intersection at Old Highway 8 which discourages trucks from using 8th Avenue because it is <br />physically difficulty for large trucks to negotiate the turns, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the old New Brighton Elementary School located at the intersection of 8th Avenue <br />and 7th Street NW has been closed and sold thereby greatly reducing the number of elementary age <br />children on 8th Avenue, and <br /> <br />;; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Residents of adjacent streets have been unfairly burden with all of the truck traffic <br />in the area as a result of the 8th Avenue No truck Traffic Posting, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Under Project 96~04, 8th A venue NW between Old Highway 8 and 10th Street NW <br />is proposed to be turned back to the City of New Brighton and reconstructed with new curb and <br />gutter, bituminous surfacing and a concrete sidewalk for pedestrian safety, <br /> <br />Now THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of New Brighton that the No <br />Truck Traffic in Excess of 10,000 Pounds Gross vehicle Weight, on 8th Avenue NW between Old <br />Highway 8 and 10th Street NW is hereby revoked upon completion of Project 96-04. <br /> <br />'I <br /> <br />, Adopted this 9th day of July, 1996. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Robert Benke, Mayor <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />Ma~ <br /> <br />Finance Director/City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />......1'" <br /> <br />(Seal) <br />
