5 <br /> <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER BRUNELL, SECONDED BY CHAIR <br />KUNESH-PODEIN, TO ASK COUNCIL FOR PERMISSION TO RESEARCH <br />THE POSSIBILITY OF A DOG PARK IN NEW BRIGHTON. MOTION <br />CARRIED. <br />VI. Announcements <br />A. Council Report – Council Member Burg <br /> Looking at the 10 Year Comprehensive Plan; looking at hiring a <br />consulting firm to help with the process and have received quotes from <br />$30,000 - $175,000. <br /> Minnoco Gas station open on Old Highway 8. <br /> Approved recommendation for Lions Park. The Lions have provided <br />funding for the park. <br /> Green Step City – Awarded for accomplishing 8 steps of 29 steps. <br /> Still on Minneapolis water. <br /> Two new officers <br /> <br />B. Chair Updates <br /> Chair Kunesh-Podein stated she met Abby Raven and her family at <br />Silver Oaks Park. There was an asphalt trail that would get washed out <br />in the park. Abby is a senior in high school and working on her Girl <br />Scout Gold project. She took out the asphalt pathway and she and her <br />family planted about 67 plants in that area. It has made a huge <br />contribution to the park. <br /> While at Vermont, the people appreciated the upgrades made to that <br />park. <br /> New Brighton Farmers market was very successful. She and Mrs. <br />McEathron were volunteers. <br /> Reminded everyone to get out and vote. <br /> <br />C. Commission Reports on Parks <br />Driftwood: Parker. No report. <br />Freedom: Brunell. Park looks good. There is less litter in the park. The <br />ballfield gets lots of use. <br />Hansen: Fields. Construction has started in the park. Trail light by the <br />bridge is out. There are bushes and trees growing through the fence on <br />the tennis court. Noticed the new AC unit at the Neighborhood Center. <br />Hidden Oaks: Quade. No report. <br />Innsbruck: Kunesh-Podein. It is in super shape. The whole park is <br />fabulous. <br />Meadow Wood: Eischen. No report. <br />Silver Oaks/Totem Pole: Justin. No report. <br />Sunny Square/Vermont: McEathron. Vermont is looking very clean. Not <br />much litter. Sunny Square had glass issue. Parking lot patched up. Also <br />has new tables inside. They look great. <br />Veterans: Stenglein. Looks decent. The concrete around the building is <br />cracking and sinking. Right field has some low spots. He is on the Focus <br />Group for Lions Park on the playground. Many new families in that area. <br />Went over the options. Good kickoff meeting to know what we have to <br />work with. Anyone who wants to sit in on these meetings can join us.
