<br /> <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson asked how Mr. Biedenfeld would respond if he disagreed with an existing City policy or <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Biedenfeld commented if a policy was in place, he believed it was put in place for a reason. However, if <br />not, he would pursue the proper channels in a proper setting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bauman stated based on how long Mr. Biedenfeld has lived in New Brighton, she questioned <br />what the biggest challenges were for the City. <br /> <br />Mr. Biedenfeld stated prior to moving to New Brighton he lived in St. Anthony for seven years. He <br />understood the water was a big concern and he is asked about this often by friends living outside of the <br />community. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strub asked which of the following strikes Mr. Biedenfeld as the most interesting: land use <br />and variances, economic programs, business retention and redevelopment, impacts of recreation in the <br />community, or the impacts of public safety services. <br /> <br />Mr. Biedenfeld stated he did not have a preference. He explained he was willing to offer his time and he was <br />more than happy to offer all that he had to an open position. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strub asked if Mr. Biedenfeld had any questions for the Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Biedenfeld indicated he did not have any questions at this time. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson encouraged Mr. Biedenfeld to contact the City with any further questions he may have and <br />thanked him for coming forward and being willing to serve the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson and the rest of the Councilmembers welcomed Pamela Axberg. She asked Ms. Axberg to <br />provide the Council with a brief summary of her background and any involvement she has had in the <br />community. <br /> <br />Ms. Axberg stated she has lived in New Brighton on two separate occasions. She explained she relocated to <br />Denver for a year but noted she has lived in the community for the past 17 years. She indicated she has been <br />involved in a variety of ways. She reported she was active with a Girl Scout troop and volunteered with the <br />New Brighton Register. She commented she has also been involved in the Irondale Ski Foundation and served <br />as a soccer coach. <br /> <br />Councilmember Bauman asked why Ms. Axberg had decided to serve as a commission member. <br /> <br />Ms. Axberg indicated she thought about it for a while and was tentative at first. She explained that her <br />youngest was graduating and the timing was better for her now. She stated she was most interested in Parks <br />and Recreation and the environment, along with health and fitness. She commented that she was at a point <br />where she could give back to her community. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strub asked why Ms. Axberg felt she would be a good person to represent the community and <br />advise the Council. <br /> <br />Ms. Axberg explained she was good at finding ways at navigating to a “yes”. She thought people could find <br />ways to find alignment and coexistence. She discussed the meaningful relationship that began after the ski
