<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council Worksession <br />February 7, 2017 <br />5:00 pm <br /> <br />Present: Mayor Valerie Johnson <br /> Councilmember Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Brian Strub <br /> Councilmember Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Mary Burg <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Staff in Attendance: Dean Lotter, Brenda Davitt, Craig Schlichting, Janice Gundlach <br /> <br />Guests in Attendance: Chad Hadler, Jennifer Jones, Carolyn Beckman <br /> <br />Review AMG Finance Records Access <br />Davitt understood after the Council retreat the Council wished to receive further information on Access My <br />Gov (AMG). She provided the Council with an overview on how to access the AMG financial records. She <br />explained utility bills could be paid through AMG and described how payroll was completed. <br /> <br />Lotter encouraged the Council to contact Davitt with any questions if they had log in problems. <br /> <br />LLIA Long Lake Invasive Species Continued Discussion <br />Lotter stated Chad Hadler and Jennifer Jones from Lake Restoration were present to address the Council. <br /> <br />Chad Hadler, Lake Restoration, introduced himself to the Council and stated his business was celebrating 40 <br />years of service and was a Minnesota based company. He stated Lake Restoration treated over 50 lakes or <br />waterways for milfoil and curly leaf pond weed in 2016. He noted he had seven fleet boats to assist with <br />treatments. He described how applications are completed along with the vegetative cycles for milfoil and curly <br />leaf pond weed. He reported these invasive species require numerous applications in order to reduce the size <br />of the invasion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strub questioned who had jurisdiction over Long Lake given the fact it was located within a <br />County park and had private homeowners. He asked what precedent might be set if the City were to take <br />action. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson stated she and the City Manager have been meeting with Mary Jo McGuire and Connie <br />Bernardie. This week she received a note from Mary Jo McGuire stating the County has no money and the <br />project would have to be funded through other means. She understood Mary Jo McGuire supported the effort <br />but had no funds available in 2017. She explained she wanted to keep the County Commissioners involved in <br />this process so they fully understand the problem. She indicated the State does not have any funds available to <br />address the concern in 2017 either. <br /> <br />Further discussion ensued regarding how the invasive species would impact the lake over time. <br /> <br />Carolyn Beckman, Long Lake Association, discussed the problems on Long Lake and explained a large
