NYFS Presentation. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jacobsen, seconded by Councilmember Strub to postpone <br />action on this item until Jerry Hromotka was in attendance at the meeting. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried <br /> <br /> 2. Girl Scout Troop #55781 Community Bonfire and Food Drive. <br /> <br />Interim Parks and Recreation Director Hicks introduced Recreation Supervisor Hokenson and noted she <br />would be presenting the report to the Council. <br />Recreation Supervisor Hokenson reported Girl Scouts Troop #55781 had an estimated 175 members from <br />the community attended in the 1st annual Community Bonfire on January 28th. Boy Scout Troop <br />#399 and Girl Scout Troop #55781 jointly collected a total of 944 pounds of food from the <br />neighborhood homes surrounding Freedom Park for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. <br />Members of Girl Scout Troop #55781 introduced themselves to the City Council and discussed the work they <br />put into the Community Bonfire and Food Drive, noting this event was completed for their Silver Award. It <br />was noted the Silver Award was the highest award given to Junior Girl Scouts. The planning efforts that went <br />into the event were described in further detail with the Council. Along with the bonfire, the Girls Scouts <br />encouraged attendees to stay active during the winter. It was the troops hope to hold future community <br />bonfire events. The Council offered the Girl Scouts a round of applause. <br />Councilmember Strub congratulated the girls on their Silver Award and for their outstanding community <br />work. <br />Councilmember Bauman stated she attended the bonfire and believed this was a great event for the City. <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked the Girl Scouts for raising food on behalf of the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. <br />Mayor Johnson congratulated the Girls Scouts on a job well done and stated he would be attending their next <br />community bonfire. <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br />1.
