He noted the license bureau would be rolling out a new software <br />program shortly. It was the City’s hope the legislature would allow for an expansion of the <br />license bureau. He reviewed the proposed agenda for the City’s 40th Anniversary Town Hall <br />meeting which would be held on Saturday, April 29th. <br /> <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported she attended a strategic planning meeting with the Cable <br />Commission. She indicated CTV staff was working diligently to rethink how to budget for the <br />future. <br /> <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Planning Commission met on Tuesday, April 18th and <br />discussed the temporary health care Ordinance along with the SUP for the seminary. He stated <br />he was pleased by the numerous comments made by the public at this meeting. He explained <br />he attended the Fire Division Banquet on Saturday, April 22nd. He congratulated Firefighter <br />Jeremy Berger for being named Firefighter of the Year. He indicated the Public Safety <br />Commission met on Monday, April 24th and would be moving their meetings to the second <br />Monday of the month. It was noted the Public Safety Commission would meet next on <br />Monday, June 12th. He encouraged New Brighton residents to consider attending the Annual <br />Meeting sponsored by the New Brighton Historical Society on Thursday, April 27th at 2:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported Arbor Day would be celebrated on Friday, April 28th in Hanson <br />Park at 9:00 a.m. Residents were invited to attend this celebration to assist in planting trees. <br />She invited all volunteers within the City to attend the Volunteer Luncheon on Sunday, April <br />30th. She stated the Eagle’s Nest playground equipment would be addressed by PREC on <br />Wednesday, May 3rd and again on Wednesday, May 10th. She updated the Council on the <br />construction taking place at Lions Park. She explained there would be a Boy Scout Food Drive <br />on Saturday, April 29th that would benefit the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. She noted she <br />attended the recent Metro Cities meeting along with Councilmember Jacobsen. She asked the <br />Council to direct staff to review the community building rental rates in order to provide a <br />discount for local community groups. She explained she attended a League of Women’s Voters <br />meeting last week. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported he attended the Metro Cities meeting last Thursday, April <br />20th. He thanked Councilmember Strub for attending the Public Safety Committee meeting for <br />him this week. He stated he was able to attend the Fire Division Banquet on Saturday, April <br />22nd and requested staff pass along his thanks to Public Safety Director Paetznick for a <br />wonderful event. He indicated the Northeast Youth and Family Services luncheon would be <br />held on Wednesday, May 3rd. Lastly, he thanked the Council and staff for properly <br />representing and working for the betterment of the City of New Brighton. <br /> <br />Mayor Johnson <br />Mayor Johnson stated she was looking forward to hearing more from staff on the possible food <br />shelf move. It was her hope that the food shelf would remain in New Brighton. She reported <br />she was looking forward to attending the Town Hall meeting on Saturday, April 29th. She <br />explained she was pleased to see construction beginning on Lions Park.
