Community Engagement PlanDRAFT A-9
Survey Responses: Vision
ID #Vision 1: Have a Diverse Population
Rank Comment
1
What does this even mean? Are you talking about race? How is this a vision? If I said I did or
didn't agree with a diverse population what would you even do? Choose future residents
based on race? Add foreign-based options to the market? Unless you're specifically talking
about refugees coming to New Brighton I don't think trying to tweak the diversity is
honorable. Diversity happens naturally.
2 3. More Relevant than Not
ID #Vision 2: Provide a Diverse Stock of Well Maintained Housing
Rank Comment
1
Well the current low income, high occupancy (cough,cough...diverse) housing is currently
not maintained well so...? I mean, the Bramantes Apartment sign has been shredded and
tangled in the branches of a tree for 5 years. The whole building is full of bed bugs. Garden
View Apartment's parking lot floods and totals cars every year.
No more apartments please. No more traffic please.
I’ve seen so many forested areas destroyed to build houses in the last 15 years. New
Brighton used to be a quaint, lovely, little town. I feel like it’s focus now is growing, growing,
bigger, BIGGER. That’s just the natural way of things I guess. But it’s not for me. I feel to
crowded. I no longer feel that my children would be safe playing outside without constant
supervision. Maybe the majority want to expand but not me.”
2 5. Very Relevant
3 5.
