A-28 Appendix A DRAFT
Table #
Vision 6: Create a Sense of Place & the “Feeling” of Community
When you think of New Brighton what’s the first word that comes to mind?
1.1 Nice, safe, easy traffic, "center of the universe", great schools, sense of pride, friendly, national night out.
1.2
1.3 Schools.
1.4
Dark, more street lighting. Uncertain, in terms of crime. Encourage neighborhood "awareness" - revitalize
neighborhood watch program. Safe, feel comfortable. Residential. Neighborly. Need more social media
connections.
1.5 Home. Safe. Old community that is not progressive. Divided. Good schools. Quality community.
1.6 Location, schools, parks.
1.7 Quiet, stable, suburbia with great access (Hwy 10, 35W, 694), boring - night life missing for young folks.
2.1 Unknown gem. Neighborhoods. Parks - good. Small town - bedroom community. Conveniently located.
Undistinguished. Nothing.
2.2 Taxes. Homes. Good neighbors. Good schools. Close to college. Centrally located
2.3
Good schools, quiet streets, freeway access. Create a better community celebration ("Stockyard" is not
appealing - make it an ethnic or more diverse theme). Irondale - untapped community with lots of energy in
youth who want to stay in community but most activities are outside the city.
2.4 Convenient. Quiet. Trees. Unknown. Neighborly. Block parties. CNNOJ
2.5
2.6 Pay more attention to older neighborhood areas - no slum areas. Great neighbors. Great school district. Safe.
Faith worship centers.
2.7 Opportunities for folds to get together. Neighborhood night out not enough & not always going on
2.8 Wonderful neighbors. Safe/old/police. Great education value. Numerous quality parks. Proximity/location/
central. Low taxed real estate due to business bape. Good management of city/schools.
2.9 (Projector
Table)
F.1 ("Team
Optimism")Strong neighborhoods. Involvement. Neighborly. Community involvement. Resident longevity. Small town feel.
F.2 Location. Great Schools. Parks
F.3
("Dispatch")Diverse. Parks. Old Housing. Great Location. Easy Highway Access
F.4 National night out
F.5 Safe. Good Schools. Convenient. Location.
PR.1 Aging. Central location. Close to University of MN. Close to Mpls. Small town feel. Neighbor closeness
