He stated the City would be further evaluating its permitting process for large City <br />events. He reported TUV SUD had begun moving dirt on their site. He explained work <br />continues on the water treatment plant and noted the City was waiting for tip up panels at this <br />time. He indicated the City was collecting data on the speed and volume of traffic along <br />Cleveland Avenue. He noted one of the recently hired Police Officers did not make it through <br />FTO. He stated staff was moving through the hiring process for the Parks and Recreation <br />Director. It was his hope to have a candidate in place for this position by the end of September. <br /> <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the EDC met last week and discussed the Comprehensive <br />Plan. She noted the Cable Commission would be meeting next on August 3rd. She explained <br />she attended the TUV SUD groundbreaking ceremony and was pleased to see this site being <br />developed. <br /> <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Planning Commission met on July 18th. He stated last week <br />he attended a 30th Anniversary Celebration for the Mounds View Education Foundation. He <br />commented he was looking forward to seeing the residents of New Brighton at Stockyard Days <br />and at National Night Out. <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Public Safety Commission would meet next on August <br />13th. He noted National Night Out was on August 1st and he encouraged New Brighton <br />residents to get their block parties registered with the Public Safety Department. He <br />encouraged the public to provide feedback to the Public Safety Commission regarding body <br />worn cameras via Survey Monkey. He invited the public to visit New Brighton farmer’s <br />market every Wednesday at the seminary. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported PREC did not meet in July. She commented on the National <br />Park event that was held at the Community Center on July 18th noting 200 people were in <br />attendance. She stated she was pleased with the progress being made at Lion’s Park and <br />thanked Hypotherm for their generous donation to the park. She encouraged residents to <br />review the Parks and Recreation Fall Brochure and to get involved in the community <br />programs.
