The donation will lessen the amount of funding required from the Change for the
Better Fund.

Explanation:
New Brighton Lions Park is currently under construction with the playground expected to be
installed in September 2017 and the athletic fields tentatively scheduled to be open for play in the
fall of 2018. The play structure and poured in place surfacing were not included as part of the
agreement with the general contractor. A task force was created to assist in determining the
playground design. The task force recommended a playground with a larger price tag than
originally budgeted. The members of the task force initiated a fund raising campaign to reduce
the difference in actual costs from the budgeted amount

________________________________________
Jason Hicks
Acting Director of Parks and Recreation

Attachments:
Donation
Resolution
AGENDA SECTION: Consent
REPORT DATE: July 28, 2017
MEETING DATE: August 8, 2017
