New Brighton <br />was chosen by a panel of expert judges for the title Fire Department of the Year. <br /> <br />Legislative History: <br /> <br />N/A <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />N/A <br /> <br />Explanation: <br /> <br />As part of his attendance at the 2017 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC), Fire <br />Captain Andre Barte submitted a narrative application describing the industry-leading <br />performance of the New Brighton Department of Public Safety Fire Division. Elements included <br />maintaining the paid-on-call organizational structure while still achieving high-levels of <br />participation and fast response times to incidents, the department’s focus on fire prevention and <br />education targeted at high-risk populations and facilities, the ongoing commitment to training and <br />continuing education of firefighters, and the agency’s engagement with the community. <br /> <br /> <br />________________________________________ <br />Anthony S.
