RESOLUTION NO. __________ <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE MOUNDS VIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND REFERENDUM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of quality public education; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has a longstanding record of cooperative programs with the Mounds View <br />School District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School District has demonstrated an outstanding record of high academic <br />achievement; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, quality schools are important to the quality of life in our community and <br />maintaining high property values; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, most school buildings are already occupied beyond 100 percent capacity and an <br />additional 1,600 students are anticipated in the Mounds View School District in the next seven <br />years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it has been 18 years since the District last asked voters to invest in infrastructure; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School Board unanimously voted to place the bond referendum on the <br />November 7, 2017, ballot; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the bond would relieve overcrowding, address safety and security needs, and <br />improve aging infrastructure; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that New Brighton hereby supports the passage of <br />the bond referendum for Mounds View Public Schools on November 7, 2017. <br /> <br /> <br />ADOPTED this ____ day of October, 2017 by the New Brighton City Council with a vote of _____ <br />ayes and _____ nays. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Valerie Johnson, Mayor <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Dean R.
