He did not believe there were any drawbacks to the City from this <br />partnership. <br />Councilmember Burg appreciated the fact that this item was pulled from the Consent Agenda as it allowed <br />the Council to discuss the matter further. She reiterated the fact that this program was free and would greatly <br />benefit the community. She believed being a member of this partnership would show the City’s commitment <br />to improve the environment. <br /> <br />4 Ayes, 1 Nay (Bauman opposed)-Motion Carried <br /> <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported the Eagle’s Nest was set to be open again on November 8 th and <br />noted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony would be held on November 14 th. A grand re-opening <br />would be held on November 18 th. He commented on the Teamster negotiations and stated he <br />was very pleased with the final contract. He provided an update on the work that has bee n <br />completed on the water treatment plant. He reviewed the hours City Hall would be open for <br />early voting. <br /> <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported the Cable Commission met on Thursday and discussed the <br />future of the organization along with the 2018 budget. She explained an executive committee <br />was appointed to assist with the search for a new Executive Director. She stated on October 3 rd <br />the Council held a worksession meeting and her character was questioned. She believed that <br />the New Brighton norms of behavior were not followed and was frustrated the meeting was not <br />stopped. She believed all members of the Council should follow the norms of behavior and <br />that she was owed an apology. <br /> <br />Brian Strub <br />Councilmember Strub reported the Planning Commission met on October 17th. He commented <br />on the items addressed by this group. He noted the CPY Fall Gala would be held on Friday, <br />October 27th and tickets were still available. <br /> <br />Mary Burg <br />Councilmember Burg reported a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Lions Park prior to this <br />meeting. She was pleased by the great turnout for this event and the fact that this park was a <br />community build. She thanked the Lions Club for their generous contribution to this park, <br />along with the businesses and residents that mad e donations to this fully accessible park. She <br />indicated a cross country meet was recently held at Brightwood Hills. She stated the next <br />PREC meeting would be held on November 1 st . <br /> <br />Paul Jacobsen <br />Councilmember Jacobsen thanked the Lions for their support. He noted the Lions Club would <br />be holding a fundraising wine tasting event at Adagio’s on November 15 th. Tickets were still <br />available for this event. He explained the Rotary Club would now be holding a Thursday <br />morning meeting at 7:00 a.m. at the New Brighton Exchange. He invited the public to attend a <br />Fire Safety Open House at the Public Safety Department on Monday, October 30 th from 6:00 to <br />8:00 p.m. He encouraged residents to change their smoke detector batteries when they change <br />their clocks on N ovember 4th when they push their clocks back an hour. Free 9-volt batteries <br />were available at the Public Safety Department during business hours.
