<br /> <br />Public Safety Commission <br />April 24, 2017 <br /> <br />Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Boyd, Commissioner Conway, <br />Commissioner Cook, Commissioner Ghouse, Commissioner Hollimon, <br />Commissioner Howard, Commissioner Kesller, Commissioner Malone, <br />Commissioner Wagner, Director Paetznick, Council Member Strub, and <br />Mr. Dave Matteson (Allina Health) <br /> <br />Absent: n/a <br /> <br /> <br />Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen called the April meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. As this <br />was the first meeting for five newly appointed members of the Commission, the entire group <br />introduced themselves. <br /> <br />March Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />The March meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Hollimon made a motion to approve <br />the March meeting minutes; Commissioner Boyd seconded. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Presentation <br /> <br />City Clerk Terri Marohn provided an orientation for all Commissioners, including roles & <br />responsibilities, specifics about the Public Safety Commission, and laws & expectations. Key <br />points of the presentation included: <br />- Authority is granted to the group as a whole, NOT to individuals <br />- Responsibilities include: help Council & staff achieve goals & objectives, comply with <br />laws & respect processes, represent citizens in the policy-making process, engage in <br />healthy discussions, keep a record of activities, and make recommendations to the City <br />Council <br />- Communication expectations, with guidance for personal and social media <br />- An overview of the Minnesota Open Meeting Law and Government Data Practices Act <br />- Standards of conduct, including enforcement & consequences <br /> <br />Training acknowledgement and oath of office forms were left for the Commissioners to complete <br />and submit to Director Paetznick at the conclusion of the meeting. <br /> <br />Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br /> <br />No report. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
