<br /> <br />currently held by Adam Nelson who is leaving to become a full-time Parks Maintenance <br />employee in the City’s Parks & Recreation Department. <br /> <br />Finally, Director Paetznick invited all of the Commissioners and the public to attend the 6th <br />Annual Suburban Ramsey County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony that will be held <br />during National Police Week on May 18th at 11am at Salem Covenant Church. <br /> <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Commissioner Allen reported that the VIPS held their meeting on March 28th. A blood drive for <br />the American Red Cross (ARC) was hosted at the Public Safety Center on March 29th with many <br />of those VIPS also attending the ARC volunteer luncheon on April 5th. Several VIPS worked to <br />clean-up graffiti along Old Highway 8 and Cleveland Avenue bridges. The group next meets on <br />April 25th with a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training to follow. <br /> <br />D. Human Rights <br /> <br />Director Paetznick advised that he had been invited to attend an Immigration Forum hosted by <br />Cristo Rey, the Latino congregation of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Brighton on <br />May 1st. Other presenters will include the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota and the Mexican <br />Consulate. <br /> <br />Council Liaison <br />A. Council Report <br /> <br />Council Member Strub advised that the Council has been considering the appointment of <br />students to all four of the municipal advisory commissions. He reminded the group that the <br />annual City Open House/Town Hall Meeting is on April 29th from 8am-noon at the Community <br />Center. It will include updates on the recent citizen survey, an update on the comprehensive <br />planning process, and time for questions/answers by the City Council. On May 20th, the City <br />will hold its annual Clean Up Day. <br /> <br />B. City Council Norms of Behavior <br /> <br />Council Member Strub reported that in 2016 the Council worked on developing an agreed upon <br />list for conducting themselves and in 2017, they adopted the City Council Norms of Behavior <br />which he shared with the Commission. <br /> <br />Old Business <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />New Business <br />A. Selection of Chair and Vice Chair <br /> <br />Per the memo on this topic from Director Paetznick, the City Council has requested that each <br />Commission appoint both a Chair and Vice Chair.
