14 <br />On August 16, Director Paetznick assisted the City of White Bear Lake with their <br />selection process for a new Fire Chief by serving as an interview panelist. Their former <br />Chief retired last December after nearly 43 years with the department. The White Bear <br />Lake Police Chief has been assisting with leadership of the fire service agency during the <br />interim, and the city was looking for a candidate with a strong EMS background as the <br />department operates their own transport ambulance service for the community. <br /> <br />On August 28, the Public Safety Commission reviewed the results of the police body <br />worn cameras survey. The Commission will next be surveying the community about the <br />department’s draft police body worn camera policy. The item is scheduled for discussion <br />at the September 26 City Council Work Session. <br /> <br />Director Paetznick met with fellow east metro Police Chiefs who have been involved <br />with the pilot law enforcement mentoring program for students at Century College. The <br />group met with the professor leading the effort to debrief on the inaugural year and also <br />plan for expansion of this effort with the start of the new academic calendar. <br /> <br />Officer/Deputy Fire Chief Krebsbach and Deputy Director Hamdorf met with staff from <br />the Fairview Medical System and Allina Medical Transportation regarding an upcoming <br />full-scale exercise that will take place on October 4. Staff will be simulating the response <br />to an “Ebola” patient arriving at the clinic seeking treatment. The training exercise will <br />test established plans and capabilities to ensure that when a highly contagious patient <br />arrives at a clinic, any threat to the public is minimized and the patient is properly cared <br />for within the system. <br /> <br />Deputy Director Hamdorf assisted the City of Minneapolis with a functional exercise as <br />they prepare to host the Super Bowl in 2018. The Super Bowl will consist of 10 days of <br />events occurring throughout the metro area and will be managed at a central location in <br />Minneapolis with assistance from agencies throughout the State. <br /> <br />Public Safety has transitioned its longtime employee scheduling software from an in- <br />house, City-server based platform to a remote-hosted location offered by the vendor. As <br />a result of this change, staff can now login to the software from any internet-connected <br />device rather than solely using a desktop computer attached directly to the City network. <br /> <br />The prescription drug drop box at the New Brighton Public Safety Center has been added <br />to the online list of medicine collection sites in Ramsey County: <br /> <br />https://www.ramseycounty.us/residents/recycling-waste/collection-sites/medicine- <br />collection <br /> <br />XI.
