8
the investigators wrote a GPS warrant for the vehicle. They were able to place the
tracker on the vehicle and conducted surveillance. They coordinated a traffic stop of her
vehicle when they knew she had meth in her vehicle. She was stopped and four pounds
of methamphetamine was located. They conducted a follow-up search warrant where she
was observed picking up the narcotics. Within that residence, they located three
additional pounds of methamphetamine and approximately $100,000 in cash.

Also from our VCET Officer, after almost five months of investigation, they wrapped up
the investigation he had on the "taxicab" driver. In the early morning, they executed a
"sneak and peek" warrant at his apartment in Minneapolis once they knew he was not at
the residence. Once inside, they located his son who they didn't know was sleeping over
that night. They back out but had provided the cover story that they were maintenance
and there had been a water leak. They then wrote a second "sneak and peek" and once
they knew son had also left, they executed it again. Approximately 15 lbs of meth and
approximately $50,000 in cash as located. There was also a surveillance team on the
taxicab driver. Once he returned to the apartment, they arrested him inside the parking
garage.

Going off of information he received on the Miranda interview, he was able to write two
follow-up search warrants in St. Paul. At the one location, approximately $30,000 in
cash was recovered. At the second location, approximately 75 lbs of methamphetamine
was recovered. Three people were taken into custody. And, based off their interviews
on-scene, he identified the "boss" of their organization and was told where the money
house was. He wrote a follow-up warrant for the location. It was estimated by them that
hundreds of thousands of currency was stashed at this location. Unfortunately, while
they were at the warrant where all the meth was located, the boss called all three of their
phones about a hundred times. By the time he was able to finish the warrant, the male
had fled and left his four children alone at the residence. No money was located. They
were able to talk their mom into returning to take custody of her children.

V. COMMUNITY POLICING AND CRIME AND FIRE PREVENTION
ACTIVITIES

This section contains information on our community policing, fire and crime prevention
activities.

Another successful Fire Prevention Month is in the books as firefighters invited the
community to explore the station on Monday, October 30. Several partner organizations
were also invited to participate, including Allina Health, Regions Hospital, and
Children’s Hospitals who had displays about health and safety information. New this
year was a kid’s physical agility test, complete with child-size firefighter turnout gear for
participants to wear as they engaged in appropriately sized and weighted feats of strength.
We are fortunate to have the expertise and access of Firefighter Jeremy Berger, whose
full-time job as a Public Educator for the St. Paul Fire Department greatly benefits our
local public education and fire prevention efforts here in the City of New Brighton.

On October 4th to celebrate National Coffee with a Cop Day, Public Safety partnered
with the Parks and Recreation Department to host an event at the Hansen Park
