<br /> <br /> <br />Area 12 – Consider no parking on the south side of 6th St NW adjacent to EZ Stop/Minoco. Director <br />Schlichting gave a brief background on this request. He recommends installing “no parking” signs <br />on the south side of 6th St NW. Commissioner Schumann made a motion to approve this <br />recommendation; Commissioner Donohue seconded. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Updates <br />A. Citizen Corps Council <br /> <br />Deputy Director Hamdorf reported a CERT Refresher table top exercise was held on Jan. 24. <br /> <br />Department Reports <br />A. Human Rights <br /> <br />No reports. Deputy Director Hamdorf noted there will be two public outreach events this summer. <br /> <br />B. Allina Health <br />Mr. Dave Matteson noted some preliminary stats for January 2017. As of today, New Brighton has <br />had 185 calls; which is a little less than 6 calls per day. Average response time so far is 7:13. Allina <br />Health received a grant from Unity Mercy Foundation to purchase 100 “thu mpers.” These will be <br />rolled out to First Responders in Ramsey County and Anoka County. The new ambulances will be <br />out soon and are much safer in the back for the clinician. Allina Health is adding Power Load to the <br />new ambulances at a cost of $40,000 which will load the patients into the ambulance without lifting. <br /> <br />There was discussion regarding ambulance crews being assaulted, ambulance crews wearing body <br />armor, and the prevalence of opioids. <br /> <br />C. Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) <br /> <br />Deputy Director Hamdorf noted the recent blood drive collected 25 units of blood. The next blood <br />drive is scheduled for March 29. <br /> <br />D. Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br /> <br />Deputy Director Hamdorf noted the following items: <br /> <br />o Officer Nick Benedict started on January 3 and Officer Taylor Wodnick will start on Feb. 6. <br />o The annual Public Safety Department Meeting will be on Feb. 13. <br />o Computers with dispatch software are now on our fire trucks which puts important <br />information at their fingertips. <br />o The next department training days will be March 7 and March 9; training will include the new <br />“thumpers” as well as a table top exercise of an active shooter scenario. <br /> <br />Council Liaison <br />A. Council Report <br /> <br />Council Member Brian Strub noted the city is currently accepting applications for city commissions <br />until February 7.
