PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br />Regular Meeting — March 21, 2017 7:00 p.m. <br />Present: Chairperson Erin Nichols-Matkaiti, Commissioners Steve Danger, Marvin Deick, Jeanne Frischman, <br />Dania Miwa, and Verne McPherson <br />Absent: Commissioner Melissa Murphy <br />Also Present: Janice Gundlach- Assistant Director of Community Assets & Development/Planning Director, <br />and Paul Jacobsen-Councilmember <br />Agenda Review: There were no changes to the agenda. <br />Minutes from February 21, 2017: <br />Motion by Commissioner Danger, seconded by Commissioner Miwa, to approve the February 21, 2017 <br />meeting minutes as presented. <br />Approved 6-0. <br />Council Action: Councilmember Jacobsen reported the Council conducted interviews for Commission <br />positions and would be making appointments prior to April. He explained the Council was considering how to <br />improve and enhance communication between the City Council and its Commissions. He stated work continues <br />on the Comprehensive Plan and input was being gathered from the public. He invited the public to attend the <br />neighborhood meeting at Hanson Park this Thursday evening. It was noted the Council has agreed to sell land <br />to AN and TUV SUD within the New Brighton Exchange. He commented on the flood mitigation <br />improvements the Rice Creek Watershed District was completing within Hanson Park. He thanked <br />Commissioner McPherson and Commissioner Deick for their service to the community on the Planning <br />Commission. He then stated that this would be his last meeting as the Council Liaison and noted <br />Councilmember Strub was be taking over for him in April. <br />Chairperson Nichol s -M atkaiti and Commissioner Danger thanked Councilmember Jacobsen for acting as a <br />stellar liaison to the Planning Commission. <br />Public Hearing: <br />(A) Peter Beck, acting on behalf of the United Theological Seminary, requests consideration of a <br />Special Use Permit to allow operation of a K-8 Charter School serving 300 students at 3000 5th <br />ST NW — TABLE PER APPLICANT REQUEST to April 18, 2017 Planning Commission <br />meeting. <br />Planning Director Janice Gundlach requested the Commission table action on this item to April 18, 2017 per the <br />applicant's request. <br />Motion by Commissioner Frischman, seconded by Commissioner Danger, to table action on this item to <br />the April 18, 2017 Planning Commission meeting. <br />
