Community Assets &
Development Department

MEMORANDUM

DATE: March 16, 2017

TO: Planning Commission

FROM: Janice Gundlach, Asst. Director of Community Assets & Development/Planning Director

SUBJECT: Agenda Item 6A, Seminary Request for SUP RE Charter School

Staff has not prepared a Planning Report for this item. The applicant has submitted a request to delay
action to the April 18, 2017 Planning Commission meeting (see attached email). The delay request
originated with the neighbors and the applicant agreed to delay action to allow more time to review the
request and address concerns prior to the public hearing.

Because the legal notice was published in the March 8th edition of the New Brighton Bulletin, and
because neighborhood notices were mailed to property owners within 350’ of the property on March
10th, the request couldn’t be cancelled. It is recommended that any public attending the meeting for
this item be advised of the delay to April 18th. If they insist on providing testimony, it can be taken for
the record but staff would recommend commissioners do not engage in discussion until a written
Planning Report is provided.

Staff recommends a commissioner make a motion to table this public hearing to the April 18, 2017
Planning Commission meeting.
