<br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />Regular Meeting – November 21, 2017 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: Chairperson Erin Nichols-Matkaiti, Commissioners Jeanne Frischman, Nasreen Fynewever, Ben <br />Jones, and Melissa Murphy <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioner Steve Danger and Dania Miwa <br /> <br />Also Present: Janice Gundlach- Assistant Director of Community Assets & Development/Planning Director, <br />and Brian Strub-Councilmember <br /> <br />Agenda Review: There were no changes to the agenda. <br /> <br />Minutes from October 17, 2017: <br /> <br />Commissioner Fynewever requested the minutes reflect that she made no motions or seconds at this meeting. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Frischman, seconded by Commissioner Jones, to approve the October 17, 2017 <br />meeting minutes as amended. <br /> <br />Approved 5-0. <br /> <br />Council Action: Councilmember Strub provided the Commission with an update from the Council. He <br />reported the new Lions Park was open in the Exchange neighborhood. He stated this is a fully accessible <br />playground and is a point of pride for the City. He noted the newly renovated Eagles Nest is open to the public. <br />He reviewed the results from the recent election and invited all youth groups in the community to visit City Hall <br />or a City Council meeting. He indicated the Council approved a Resolution that would allow student liaisons to <br />serve on all Commissions. He thanked each of the Commissioners for their service to the community and <br />wished them well in the New Year. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fynewever and Chair Nichols-Matkaiti thanked Councilmember Strub for his service on the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />Public Hearing: <br />(A) Consideration of a Site Plan and Special Use Permit for Donald “Skip” Wyland, acting on behalf <br />of Pets Remembered, to construct a 10’ x 25’ addition to the rear (east) side of the existing <br />building to accommodate a second cremation machine at 15 2nd AVE SE. <br /> <br />Planning Director Janice Gundlach reported the applicant has made application for the following land use <br />requests to facilitate construction of a 10’ x 25’, or 250 SF, addition to the existing industrial building at 15 2nd <br />AVE SE: <br /> <br />• Site Plan: Required in order to obtain a building permit for the addition. The purpose of the Site Plan is <br />to ensure all building setbacks, floor area ratios, building height, and parking requirements are met. <br />• Special Use Permit: Required in order to allow installation of a second cremation machine within the <br />building. Pets Remembered is currently operating under a Special Use Permit that restricts the business
