Call to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Fields. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br />Members present: Commissioners Brunell, Eischen, Fields, Johnson, Justin, <br />McEathron, Quade, Stenglein <br /> Members absent: Commissioner Axberg <br />Also present: Jason Hicks, Acting Director of Parks and Recreation; Chris Wolla, <br />Parks Superintendent; Lori Hokenson, Recreation Supervisor; Mary Burg, <br />Council Liaison; Residents Mark Reker, 2950 18th Street and Dave Haas, 1111 <br />19th Ave SW. <br /> <br />III. Approval of Agenda <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER JUSTIN, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />EISCHEN, TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />IV. Approval of Minutes <br /> A. March 1, 2017 Minutes <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER STENGLEIN, SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER JUSTIN, TO APPROVE THE MARCH 1, 2017 MINUTES <br />AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />V. New Business <br /> A. Commission Reports on Parks Update <br /> New Commissioner Johnson stated he would take Driftwood Park. <br />New Commissioner Axberg was assigned Innsbruck Park. <br /> <br />VI. Old Business <br />A. Community Center Hours of Operation on Sunday Morning <br />Acting Director, Jason Hicks, stated there was a petition received back in <br />January, 2016 to change the Community Center hours to open earlier on <br />Sundays. It was implemented in October of 2016. Lori Hokenson, Recreation <br />Supervisor shared a presentation with statistics. History, usage, staffing and <br />staffing costs were shared. Staff recommends the New Brighton Community <br />Center remain open for the remainder of 2017 to identify member and facility <br />usage during the summer and fall months. <br /> <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER JUSTIN, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />STENGLEIN TO AGREE WITH STAFF RECOMMENDATION THAT THE <br />NEW BRIGHTON COMMUNITY CENTER REMAIN OPEN FOR THE <br />REMAINDER OF 2017 TO IDENTIFY MEMBER AND FACILITY USAGE <br />DURING THE SUMMER AND FALL MONTHS. MOTION CARRIED. <br /> <br />
